Surprisingly, it actually WAS a happy birthday!

So my birthday was last Monday and I decided to give myself a present: TIME OFF!

The last couple of weeks have been kinda stressful, what with studying and some last minute problems with my thesis, but on Monday I decided to put everything on hold. The day went far, far better than I'd been expecting and I decided to go all out and spend it making icons! It's my favourite way to relax and I couldn't remember the last time I'd done it, so I figured there was no time like the present. : )
I'd planned to have these up before the end of my b-day, but Photobucket started being an ass again. I've lost track of how many times I've started uploading these, only to have Photobucket freeze my laptop and force me to reboot it, thus having to start uploading the icons all over again. I think it's finally, FINALLY working now!...

YAY Friday the 13th!

Just to clarify, I love the day, not the movie(s)...

I guess some people think Friday the 13th is unlucky, but I've never had any major complaints.
This January's was a little stressful, but that had to do with rushing out the door to catch a train, not actual bad luck... And I actually remember this one time when I was in middle school (can't remember what year) and I had a math test on a Friday the 13th. The potential for bad luck was ALL there, especially considering I'd even seen a black cat out the window before I left the apartment that morning! There was no bad luck, though. I got through the day just fine and aced my test!

I've loved Fridays the 13th ever since! : )

(While we're at it, I also love black cats. I grew up watching Sailor Moon and Luna was one of my favourite characters!) : )

Freaking unbelievable...

Hi there! Remember me? Probably not.

I moved to a new town a couple of weeks ago (this is my third week here) and since then my laptop has been infected with a virus TWICE... I say infected with a virus because it was the same virus on both occasions. I was at least able to identify where I got it, so I can now avoid that website like the plague for all eternity. Sadly, seeing as how my brother-in-law is the only person I know who fixes computers, and I only go to my home town on the weekends, that meant I had to spend two whole weeks without a laptop or internet access. Fun times!

And whoever made that virus probably wasn't even all that smart, although he or she surely knows how to be annoying... As long as I had my laptop on, I'd get a pop-up message every minute or so (no joke!), from a "security" program I'd never heard of before, saying that my computer was infected with 20 different types of virus and malware (again, no joke!). It also said that someone was trying to remotely access my credit card information on my laptop (even though I don't have a credit card and I was already offline) and that, in order to be "adequately protected", I should purchase a license to that extremely helpful program that was warning me about said infection. Of course, in order to buy said license, I'd have to - you guessed it - INPUT MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION! Which, you know, is always a good idea when there's someone supposedly trying to remotely access your credit card information...

Anyway, my brother-in-law got rid of the virus the first time around, but he decided a massive re-installation would be in order the second time around, so now I'm trying to get all the settings back to normal. He did manage to salvage my C: drive, though, which combined with my beloved external hard drive meant that no files were lost. Cue a major sigh of relief! And, barring any more disasters, I'm back to the virtual world, so maybe now I can start catching up with folks.

So how's everyone been?

First of all, to the people who don't know me all that well, I'd like to stress that I'm a James Bond fan! When I was a kid, my sister used to make fun of the movies and I'd get really mad at her for it. Nowadays, I don't have as much time to watch them as I used to (I haven't even watched Quantum of Solace yet), but I still enjoy them whenever they're on. Having said that, I also have to admit that my sister sometimes had a point...
